What's happening in Switzerland?
If you're visiting Switzerland, be sure to check local Covid restrictions in advance and what you can and can't do.
What’s open in Switzerland?
When you arrive in Switzerland, you’ll find most establishments are open. This includes cafes, restaurants, shops, museums, parks, hotels, thermal baths, beaches, zoos and a whole lot more. Leisure facilities like water parks and swimming pools and cultural institutes like galleries, museums and libraries are also open.
However, to visit these places, and other indoor spaces you’ll need to show a valid Swiss or EU Covid-19 Passport. For visitors who don’t have an EU Covid-19 Passport, you can get a Swiss Covid-19 Passport as long as you’ve received a vaccine that is approved by the European Medicines Agency. Visitors need to apply for this before they arrive in Switzerland. You can apply for the Covid certificate online using the National COVID certificate application platform.

Other preventative measures are also still in place. Everyone is required to practice social distancing and to wear a mask when in public indoor spaces as well as in enclosed areas. In addition, and for added peace of mind, it is highly recommended, though not mandatory, to take out travel insurance that covers your trip to Switzerland. If you need a PCR or Rapid Antigen Covid-19 test before entering Switzerland, Certyfly can advise and supply the relevant testing at both ends of your journey. We also offer practical travel advice and issue test certificates.
Best things to do in Switzerland
So, now that you have arrived in Switzerland, what is there to do? Well, for such a small country, Switzerland packs a punch when it comes to things to do.
Embrace the great outdoors
For those who like to get wet and wild, there are around 7,000 lakes where you can swim, fish, sail, canoe, kayak, windsurf, the activities are seemingly endless. For those who prefer their water frozen, take to the slopes and enjoy the world-class ski resorts for which Switzerland is famous.
You can also get in touch with nature in the Swiss National Park, which is the oldest national park in the Alps. Founded in 1914, this vast wilderness is the perfect place to get away from it all on the hiking trails and to spot an incredible variety of wildlife.

Marvel at mansions and museums
For those looking for a culture fix, there are many historic castles to explore including the beautiful Château Chillon. There are also some magnificent museums to roam including the fascinating Swiss Museum of Transport. This is Switzerland’s most visited museum and it showcases the past, present and future of mobility with interactive and engaging exhibits.
Enjoy some great gastronomy
When you work up an appetite, your tastebuds are in for a treat as Switzerland has great gastronomy. Indulge in ooey-gooey cheese fondue or opt for decadent Swiss chocolate fondue for dessert, after all this is the home of some of the finest chocolate in the world. Wine lovers are also in for a treat, as Switzerland produces some stunning wines that you won’t find anywhere else. Not much Swiss wine is exported, so this is a great opportunity to broaden your palate.
As you can see, Switzerland is a country for those who love to embrace the great outdoors and reacquaint themselves with nature. It is a scenic playground for those who like to get active on holiday and it’s a dream destination for lovers of good food and drink. So, don’t forget to pack your appetite.
