Best things to do in Greece
Once you have all your paperwork in check, you can start thinking about all the wonderful things to do on your Greek holiday. Greece is a destination where you can be as mild or wild as you like!
Channel your inner Indiana Jones
Greece has a long and rich history and was home to one of the world’s greatest civilisations, so it is not surprising that the country is peppered with archaeological sites and ancient ruins. In fact, the country has 18 UNESCO World Heritage listed sites. It is, therefore, the ideal destination to embrace your inner Indiana Jones, whip optional, and explore these ancient sites of historical importance.
You could start your journey of discovery at the site of Mycenae, which is one of the oldest ancient sites in Greece. Alternatively, you could go straight to the big-hitter, the Acropolis and spend the day exploring the sites on the Athenian hill.

Stay on Santorini
Santorini is one of the most beautiful islands in Greece and one of the most popular, and for good reason too. With its breathtaking natural beauty, kaleidoscopic sunsets and sweeping panoramic views of the caldera and the shimming Aegean Sea, this volcanic island is breathtaking. There are also lots of things to do like visiting the town of Oia, which is home to the two most famous blue-domed churches. This is also a very popular spot for watching the sunset and getting that quintessential photo of Santorini. You can also go off exploring and navigate the rocky terrain on an ATV or take to the trails and hike around the island. There are lots of great bars and restaurants too and you can even visit a vineyard and enjoy some wine tasting. For such a small island, it really packs a lot in.
Enjoy some great Greek gastronomy
Having such a good time certainly does work up an appetite and when hunger strikes, you can stop your tummy from rumbling with some delicious, typical Greek dishes. Make sure you try the flavourful Greek olives and olive oil, the fresh fish, local cheeses and honey. To get a real taste of the country, look out for dishes like kolokythokeftedes (courgette balls), tyropita (cheese pie) and galatoboureko (custard pastry). These should be washed down with a glass of local ouzo, an anise-flavoured aperitif.
As you can see, Greece is a country for those who love to be surrounded by history and heritage and heart-stirring scenery. It is a place where you can head off on an adventure or just head to the beach before experiencing authentic local cuisine whilst watching colourful sunsets. Whatever type of holiday you are after, you’ll find it in Greece.
